TEEN THERAPY IN NEW CANAAN, CT + WESTCHESTER, NY

They don't seem like themselves lately.

What does it actually look like when your teen is struggling?

Maybe they're spending more time alone. They're more irritable, less interested in things they used to enjoy, or suddenly everything you say seems to turn into an argument.

School pressure is getting heavier. Friendships feel complicated. They're comparing themselves to everyone around them—or worrying constantly about what other people think.

You ask what's wrong and hear, “I'm fine.”

And you're left trying to figure out when to push, when to give them space, and whether what you're seeing is typical teenage stress or something more.

  • They're withdrawing from family or friends

  • School has become a constant source of stress

  • Small things seem to trigger huge reactions

  • They're incredibly hard on themselves

  • Friendships or dating relationships are consuming them

  • They seem anxious, sad, angry, or simply not like themselves

Sometimes teens need someone who isn't their parent to talk to.

How therapy works

A space that's theirs—with someone who actually gets to know them.

Teen therapy starts with the relationship. Before we expect a teenager to open up, they need to feel comfortable with the person sitting across from them.

Sessions give teens a private, nonjudgmental place to talk about what's actually happening—the friendship drama, school pressure, family conflict, relationships, anxiety about the future, or the things they don't quite know how to explain.

Therapy is conversational and individualized. Along the way, we help teens better understand their emotions, notice patterns, communicate more effectively, and develop practical ways to handle anxiety, stress, conflict, and difficult moments.

Parents still matter. We'll involve you when appropriate and help you support your teen while respecting the privacy that allows a meaningful therapeutic relationship to develop.
